Bonney Lake fastpitch falls to Auburn Mountainview

Auburn Mountainview took four runs in the first inning over the Panthers' two, giving the Lions a lead that just couldn't be overcome in the course of the game.

Bonney Lake High’s fastpitch softball team lost to Auburn Mountainview 9-6 Saturday.

Auburn Mountainview took four runs in the first inning over the Panthers’ two, giving the Lions a lead that just couldn’t be overcome in the course of the game. The Lions took another run in the third inning, three more in the fifth, and a final run in the sixth. The Panthers made two more runs in the third, and then a final two in the seventh.

The loss is all the more frustrating for the Panthers’ superior run-to-hit of 6-to-6. But the Lions made twice as many hits at 12, giving themselves more chances to come out ahead.

Bonney Lake’s star batters were Rendi Johnson and Christian McKone. Johnson made three hits out of four at-bats and had 3-RBI. McKone had one hit and two runs out of three at-bats.
