Tyler Salsbury turned in a record-tying performance during an Enumclaw High practice round Oct. 4. The Hornet junior birdied 10 holes and eagled another on his way to equaling the course record for 18 holes at Enumclaw Golf Course.

Salsbury finished at 11-under par 59 to tie former Hornet Isaac Woods’ and Chris Thorton’s record.

“This kid is special,” coach Bob Kilmer said of the 2009 South Puget Sound League 3A Player of the Year, who finished second at the Class 3A state tournament in May. “It’s very amazing for a 17-year-old kid. In the world there are probably 100 people that did that.”

Salsbury was on track to break the record, but bogeyed the 18th hole.
