The Sumner Spartan baseball team defeated the Franklin Pierce Cardinals 7-0 in home conference play Tuesday.

The Sumner Spartan baseball team defeated the Franklin Pierce Cardinals 7-0 in home conference play Tuesday.

The Spartans clustered their runs in the second through fourth innings, picking up two, two and three runs respectively.

Luc Powers-Hubbard went to bat three times and ended the day with 3-RBI. He hit one double and ran to home plate once.

On the mound, Christian Parsons pitched seven innings and struck out the Cardinals 15 times.

Tuesday marked the second time this season the Spartans defeated the Cardinals, bringing them 8-2 in the South Puget Sound League 2A conference. The team is scheduled to play Clover Park away Monday.
