Sumner Baseball: After defeating N. Kitsap, Spartans next take on Fife

The Spartans remain on the first seed track, but could be knocked down to third seed if they lose to Fife, the top SPSL 2A team.

Sumner High’s baseball team is moving ahead in the West Central District 3 vs. South Kitsap District 2 tournament. The Spartans defeated North Kitsap 2-0 Wednesday afternoon.

Brandon Boyd made one hit out of three at-bats. On the pitching mound, Boyd pitched seven innings, allowed four hits and no runs, struck out eight opponents and walked three.

The Spartans will play Fife next, on Saturday; a guaranteed challenge, given that Fife has the top win percentage of South Puget Sound League 2A. The game will begin at 11 a.m. on Foss High’s diamond.
