Area man dies as result of rollover crash

Michael Fontana, 34, of the Buckley area, was killed in a vehicle accident during the early-morning hours of March 24.

According to the Pierce County Sheriff's Department, the accident occurred at the intersection of 120th Street East and 214th Avenue East between Buckley and Bonney Lake.

It appears the vehicle left the roadway, hit a drainage ditch and flipped over. Fontana, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected. Officers pronounced him dead at the scene.

An investigation into the cause of the crash is underway.
