Rainier Hills Young Life will host another edition of the Palate of the Plateau beginning at 5:30 p.m., April 28 at the Enumclaw High School Commons.
“The event is to raise money for Young Life in the Enumclaw White River area to help us reach adolescents in middle school through high school,” said Loran Zenonian, area director for Young Life. “Some of the money raised goes directly to get kids to summer camp, or it goes to our operating budget.”
The event provides a chance for Plateau residents to get a taste on the cheap of some of the tasty fare available at area restaurants.
This year's cuisine will be furnished by 17 different establishments - and that's five more than last year, according to Zenonian. Participating will be The Greenwater Lodge Coffee Shop, Bangkok Thai Restaurant, Mazatlan, Cafe Panini, Coho's, Four Seasons, Quizno's, Mama Passarelli's, Sweet Necessities, Rainier Bar and Grill, El Camino Family Restaurant, Aaron Brenner's Bakery and Deli, The Pony Express, Pie Goddess, Ranchito #2, Truffle's and The Kitchen.
“The restaurants are great, they donate the food and staff the booths,” Zenonian said. “It's a great event.”
In addition to food the event will feature an auction.
“We auction some simple things, each year, like power tools, trips and time shares. All of the auction items are donated and all of the money goes to the kids,” Zenonian said.
This will be the seventh Palate of the Plateau and last year's event raised close to $22,000 for Young Life.
Advance tickets are available by calling 360-825-6425 and are $10 for adults and $5 for children. Tickets will be sold at the door for $12 for adults and $6 for children.
