THURSDAY NIGHT LIGHTS: Bonney Lake uses air, ground attack for 41-21 win over White River

Bonney Lake jumped out to a 21-0 lead and never looked back as they defeated the White River Hornets, 41-21, in South Puget Sound League 3A action Oct. 1 at Sunset Chev Stadium.
Colton Nash had a hand in the Panthers’ first two touchdowns. He caught a 6-yard pass from QB Cole Schuler, then intercepted a Marc Anderson pass and returned it 42 yards for his second TD and a 14-0 lead with 3:06 left in the first quarter.
Tyler Babukas, filling in for Aaron Quevedo, broke loss on an 80-yard YD run at the 8:59 mark in the second quarter.
White River answered with Anderson finding Michael Madden for a 72-yard TD pass to cut the lead, 21-7.
On the Panthers’ next series, Schuler found Austin Marshall splitting the Hornet secondary for a 51-yard TD.
The Hornets cut the Bonney Lake margin, 28-14, on Blake Tidwell’s 1-yard run with 1:35 in the first half.
Marshall caught his second TD pass in the third – a 4-yard pass from Schuler. Babukas scored on a 25-yard run in the fourth for a 41-14 lead with 4:02 remaining to play.
Anderson found Hunter Chadwick for a 32-yard TD as the Hornets scored with less a minute to go.
The Panthers improve to 4-1 overall and 3-1 in SPSL 3A, while White River fell to 3-2 overall and 2-2 in the league standings.
