ATTEMPTED BURGLARY

• At 5:20 p.m. Oct. 8, police responded to a burglary attempt at 17410 Elhi Rim Road East. The 53-year-old male victim said during the day suspects had opened a door to his garage and entered his residence. He said the alarm system indicated a trip at the door, but he recently cancelled the service to save money.

VEHICLE PROWL

• At 1:10 p.m. Oct. 9, police responded to a report of vehicle prowl at Timber Ridge Animal Hospital. The 48-year-old male victim stated he is an employee of the veterinary clinic and parked his vehicle in a rear parking at 9 a.m. At 1 p.m. he noticed the passenger-side door window was broken and several items were missing.

DOMESTIC DISPUTE

• On Oct. 10, police responded to a domestic dispute at at 74th Street East address. A 64-year-old man said he and his 54-year-old girlfriend had a verbal argument and she left the scene in her car. He said they both had consumed alcohol and he called police because he didn’t want to be accused of assault. He stated no assault had occurred.

ROBBERY

• At 6:53 p.m. 0ct. 12, police responded to a robbery at a business on state Route 410. A store employee told police an 18-year-old male purchased an item, forcibly removed money from the register drawer when it opened, then fled on foot. An alleged accomplice, also 18, was detained at the store until police arrived and was later arrested, along with the accused robber. Both charged with robbery in the second degree and booked into Pierce County Jail.

FALSE REPORT

• On Oct. 14, a 24-year-old man told officers he awoke to the sound of his vehicle being stolen and ran after it. Police thought the story was suspicious since the man would have had to run for miles after the vehicle. The man appeared intoxicated and was not out of breath, nor did he have sweat on his face. When confronted about the suspicious story, the man admitted he was lying. He was placed under arrest for making false and misleading statements and for warrants he was discovered to have out of Colorado for auto theft and out of Tacoma for threats. The man said he made the story up so he could get a ride home and not need to pay for his vehicle to be towed. The man refused to tell officers where his vehicle was but police located it and no damage was apparent. The man was booked into the Buckley Jail.

NO-CONTACT ORDER

• On Oct. 3, officers responded to a domestic assault in the 1900 block of Main Street between a male and a female. They found an intoxicated female who was crying and moaning. She said she and a man had been arguing about where they were going to go. A witness described to the officer how the male who was driving a van put the vehicle in reverse and almost hit the female. The witness said she honked her horn to warn the female that the van was coming her way. A records check revealed the female was protected by two no-contact orders. The man was taken into custody.

FOOT CHASE

• On Sept. 28, an officer was on routine patrol in the 13600 block of 24th Street when he encountered a vehicle backing into his lane of travel. When the vehicle pulled over the officer asked the driver for his driver’s license. The subject said he did not have it on him and provided a name that was later found to be false. As the officer conducted a records check the subject got out of his car and fled. The officer requested additional units for containment. The driver was found hiding in heavy brush near a ditch. The driver was then identified by the ID card he left on the floorboard of his vehicle. The subject was booked into Puyallup jail on several charges.

STOLEN BOAT

• On Sept. 27 an officer responded to the 1600 block of Washington Street for a report of two male subjects in a truck who hooked up to the victim’s boat trailer, which had his boat on it, and attempted to drive away. The boat trailer came off the hitch as the subjects drove away. The victim said he awoke to the sound of somebody outside his home. The victim tried to follow the subject in his vehicle but the subject started throwing tools at the victim as he attempted to follow the subject. The victim was able to get a partial license plate number of the suspect vehicle. Investigation is ongoing.
