MALICIOUS MISCHIEF

• On Nov. 2 police responded to Mountain View Middle School for a report of malicious mischief, which occurred earlier. The head custodian at the school stated the damage occurred between Oct. 30 and Nov. 2. A vehicle was driven onto the front lawn at the school, leaving tire tracks. A chain and lock system used to secure the front gate at the school was broken.

ASSAULT

• On Oct. 29 police were dispatched to a residence at 205th Avenue East for a report of domestic assault. The 27-year-old female victim stated her husband, 26, head-butted her during an argument. Police observed a bump on her forehead and the husband admitted to the assault. He was booked into the Buckley City Jail and issued a no contact order.

UNDER THE INFLUENCE

• On Oct. 30 police were dispatched to a report of a three-vehicle collision on eastbound state Route 410 at 208 Avenue East. Three damaged vehicles were in the intersection. The driver of one of the vehicles struck a semi-truck and a pickup truck as the trucks were stopped at a red light. The driver was a 30-year-old male who appeared disoriented. He submitted to a field sobriety test and performed poorly. He admitted to using prescription medication. He was arrested for driving under the influence and taken to the police station for further evaluation, where he almost fell asleep during processing. He was also taken to Enumclaw Hospital for a blood draw.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

• On Oct. 31 police contacted a 21-year-old female at Island Drive regarding threats from her ex-boyfriend. After arguing in the morning, she received several threatening calls. The threats involved flattening tires, burning her house down blowing up her car and killing her. The ex-boyfriend became upset early in the morning when he saw the female at the Diamond Lounge. He allegedly approached her and forced her to walk to her car, while he squeezed her neck. Later, the female was made aware her room was vandalized. Her clothes were strewn about the room and a knife was stabbed into the night stand. On the TV were the words “You will pay” written in red nail polish. The ex-boyfriend was later arrested for harassment and booked into Pierce County Jail for the harassment charge and for a narcotics charge for some pills which were found on his person.

DOMESTIC DISPUTE

• On Oct. 13 at 5:23 p.m. officers were dispatched to a physical domestic in progress in the 500 block of Cherry Avenue. Dispatch advised the altercation was between a mother and her adult daughter. The daughter had been assaulted by the mother during an argument. During the investigation officers spoke with the intoxicated mother, and ultimately arrested her for assault.

VEHICLE PROWL

• On Oct. 11 at 11:07 p.m. a citizen called and reported that she had just witnessed her neighbor’s vehicle being prowled by a white male in the 15800 block of Elm Street. The witness reported that her husband was attempting to keep the suspect at the scene but he fled east down Elm Street. Upon arriving in the area the officers were not able to locate the suspect. The witness stated she knew the person she saw in the vehicle only by his first name and that the neighbors are friends with the suspect. Officers were unable to contact the victim, but processed the scene for evidence. The witness was presented with a photo of the suspect and asked if he was the person she had witnessed in the vehicle. The suspect was positively identified by the witness. The victim was later contacted and she advised that she wished to file charges.

COLLISION

• On Oct. 20 at 12:42 p.m. officers were dispatched to a report of a motor vehicle collision where a car hit a tree in the 1700 block of Main Street. When officers arrived they found the driver of the vehicle was trapped inside; East Pierce Fire and Rescue extricated the man. The investigation revealed that the vehicle veered into the oncoming lane of travel and accelerated. The vehicle continued eastbound, went onto the north sidewalk and missed two parked cars, several trees and a telephone pole before colliding with the tree. The driver was then transported to the hospital. It was later learned that the driver had passed away at the hospital as a result of the injuries obtained in the collision.

HIT AND RUN

• On Oct. 11 at 1:22 a.m. officers responded to the 1000 block of Main Street for a report of a hit and run collision. While enroute communications advised that a vehicle was following the suspect vehicle involved in the hit and run. When the officer arrived at the original location he observed a truck with extensive damage to the side of the truck bed. When officers asked what happened the owner of the truck said that as they were leaving the location he and his friends were approached by two subjects in a parking lot, words were exchanged and the subjects got into another truck and backed out at a high rate of speed, colliding into the side of his truck bed; nearly missing two subjects standing by the vehicle. Officers were able to catch up with the suspect and his vehicle at his home. The suspect was found to be intoxicated and was arrested for Hit and Run and DUI.
