At age 20, Enumclaw High School 2007 graduate Max Clendaniel is making a name for himself in the film world.

Clendaniel, who is in his second year at The University of the West of England’s “Bristol School of Animation” degree program, won the annual BBC Mini Masterpieces short film competition with his piece, titled “Heavy Metal,” which relates the story of what happens when a man meets an over-friendly musical robot.

In early November, Clendaniel was named one of three finalist given the task of developing, producing, editing and premeiring a 90-second film over a two-day time period at the Encounters Festival in England Nov. 21.

He continues his media practice/animation studies, while working as a Student Ambassador at UWE Bower Ashton campus, along with creating new film and animation projects and submitting to international film festivals.
