GIRLS BASKETBALL | Feb. 2: Bonney Lake rips Franklin Pierce, Sumner falls to Lakes

Three Bonney Lake players scored in double figures for a 69-33 South Puget Sound League 3A win Feb. 2 in Parkland.

The Panthers got out to a 13-3 lead early and the Cardinals was never able to rally back and challenge for the lead.

Bonney Lake built a 29-14 halftime lead.

Carli Elwin and Marcel Pounds tallied 15 points each, while Rani Wiegand tossed in 11.

With the win and a Sumner loss, the Panthers are in sole possession of second place in the league at 11-3 and 14-4 overall.

Lakes 54, Sumner 48

Both teams back-and-forth all game, but the Lance held on for a SPSL 3A win over Sumner at home Feb. 2.

Lakes took a 12-8 lead, but the Spartans came back for a 26-23 advantage at halftime.

The Lancer regain the lead as they outscored Sumner, 31-22 in the second half.

Ashley Olsen led Sumner with 22 and Kaitlin King added 10 for the Spartans.

The loss dropped Sumner to fourth place in the league standings at 9-4 and 11-6 overall.
