Under the direction of Kacee Barber, White River High School students will present the musical comedy “You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown.” The play will be staged at 7 p.m. April 29, April 30 and May 1 with a 2 p.m. matinee scheduled for May 2.
Senior Keenan Barber plays Charlie Brown. Junior Kristen Mithell has the role of his sister Sally and freshman Jamie Meagher plays Brown’s loyal beagle Snoopy. Lucy Van Pelt is portrayed by freshman Lindsay Bowers and senior Wesley Schaible takes the stage as Linus Van Pelt. Zach Schneider, a senior, rounds out the leading cast members as Schroeder.
Tickets are $6 for adults and $3 for students.
Barber is starting the drama program at White River High and this is her first musical production and a joint effort between the drama, choral and band departments. Barber is getting help from choral director Robin Howard and orchestral director Timothy Fleming. Joy Chaussee and Christian Lance are helping with choreography.
“It is never easy to start a new program,” Barber said. “But with the help of local theater groups and dedicated performing arts supporters we have managed to put something amazing together.”
The characters, she noted, are easy to identify with and cast members found they had a lot in common with the characters they portray.
“Watching the show will transport you back to the youthful innocence and openness of childhood,” Barber said. “The musical is vibrant and colorful and is sure to please Peanuts fans of all ages.”
