New Sumner sewer rates set

New sewer rates are in effect for Sumner residents.
The price is based on water use during the winter months, which keeps the rate lower by not reflecting increased water use in the summer. More water is used in the summer months because of activities like watering the yard.
Sewer rates are averaged using winter water use and prices start with a base, which for a single family home is $32.08 for up to 5 units. A unit is 100 cubic feet or 748 gallons.
For every unit beyond five, the cost is $5.53 per unit. This shows up on water bills as a separate charge when an amount over the base rate is used.
The water base rate is $10.60, assuming you have ¾” meter size, which is what most residences have. From the base rate the price is dependent on the amount of water used.
One to 10 units cost $0.93 per unit, 11 to 20 units cost $1.21 each and more than 20 units are $1.45 per unit.
