EHS WRESTLING: Enumclaw JV three points shy of West Seattle varstiy tournament team title

Enumclaw High sent its junior varsity wrestling team to the West Seattle varsity tournament Saturday, where the Hornets carried home the second-place trophy and had five champions.

The Hornets fell three points shy of winner Cedarcrest in the 10-team tournament. Cedarcrest finished with 165 points, EHS with 162.

Sawyer Lane won the 113-pound title with a 9-8 win over Kevin Nguyen of Franklin.

At 132 pounds, Jayden Fend won the crown, pinning Moises Torres of Evergreen in 1 minute, 15 seconds.

Nick Jonas was the team’s third champions, earning a 12-10 decision over Adrian Kettleson of Kennedy at 138 pounds.

Falani Gill scored a 14-4 major decision over Tyler Sutherland of Cedarcrest for the 152-pound title.

Jonathan Sugihara pinned Junior Benitez of Sammamish in 4:27 for his title at 160 pounds.

David Kingman, 126, and Sam Haney, 145, finished third.
