Chances good for Panthers to make No. 4 postseason seed | BLHS Girls Basketball

Even though it lost two of three contests last week to a pair of the upper echelon squads in the South Puget Sound League 3A, knocking their record in league action 2-5, the chances are still good that the Bonney Lake High girls will make next weekend’s subdistrict tournament as either the No 4 or No. 5 seed.
After beating Decatur 51-41 at home Jan. 24 behind a 20 point outing by junior forward Mekenzie Voellger, the Panther girls had two days to prepare for road excursions at Lakes High Friday and Auburn Mountainview Saturday.
Bonney Lake didn’t fare well, falling 56-48 to the Lancers, despite Voellger’s 22 point performance, and 48-25 to the Lions.
Bonney Lake coach Thomas Ostrander called Auburn Mountainview a defensive-minded and physical squad, whose experienced group took full advantage of the many turnovers given up by his younger bunch, which is now 5-12 overall.
If Bonney Lake beat the Seahawks of Peninsula High Tuesday night, the Panthers are almost assured of making postseason play, even though it must play back-to-back contests Friday and Saturday with Enumclaw. Friday’s game will be on the road, Saturday’s at home.
