Shooting range protection, prostitution and shoreline development on County Council agenda

Published 3:45 pm Wednesday, July 31, 2013

Pierce County Council is scheduled to consider an ordinance that will protect area shooting ranges from noise and nuisance actions. The meeting will take place at 6 p.m. August 13 at the Orting Lions Club, 19725 Orville Road East.

The council normally meets on Tuesdays in downtown Tacoma but the Pierce County Charter requires at least one meeting a year be held in each of the seven districts.

The August 14 meeting will be hosted by District 1 Councilmember Dan Roach.

In addition to the shooting range ordinance (2013-35), the meeting agenda includes as well as an ordinance that would make it unlawful to try and identify an undercover police officer in order to avoid a prostitution arrest.

Also on the agenda is a resolution asking the Pierce County Planning Commission to review changes to a comprehensive proposal to update shoreline development regulations as required by state law.
