White River celebrated its first Athletic Hall of Fame induction Friday night, honoring four individuals and one team from the school’s storied past.

Among those singled out were the late John Garnero, a multi-sport athlete; Helen (Mells) Horton, the first WRHS female basketball player to score more than 1,000 points in a career; Hornet player and longtime coach John Hyppa; Lloyd Blanusa, coach of the 1973 state champion basketball team (the entire team was inducted as well); and standout distance runner Andy Maris.
