The Enumclaw City Council will consider a budget amendment for a City Hall and Stevenson Yerxa Building renovations during its May 11 meeting.
The remodel project was originally just for the Stevenson Yerxa Building, which is across Myrtle Avenue from City Hall, and was provided $25,000 in the 2026 budget.
Adding City Hall renovations requires a budget amendment of an additional $32,500, to be used from the city’s Real Estate Excise Taxes fund.
Work in City Hall would include replacing of all the cabinets, desks, and countertops in the administration offices, as well as replacing the court office countertop.
Over in Stevenson Yerxa, three interior windows would be removed and replaced with hard surfaces; replacing the front entry door with an ADA Automate Operated Door with two wireless push buttons; and replacing a baby gate at the front office with a locked security gate.
The city expects work to be done on weekends only during the summer of 2026, in order to minimize impacts on staff.
FLAGPOLE PROJECT
Passersby may have already noticed work has started outside City Hall for its Semiquincetennial Flag Pole project, which involves replacing the current flagpole with a 50-foot pole, brick masonry work, lighting installation, and the installation of a commemorative plaque.
The vast majority of funds for the project came from King County Council member Reagan Dunn in the form of a $100,000 grant; the rest of the money will be supplied by the city.
Construction started earlier this month and is expected to go through early- to mid-June.
