Enumclaw, White River schools recognized for growth, academic achievement

Schools in the Enumclaw and White River school districts were recently recognized by the state for achievements in student growth last year.
The State Board of Education published the list of schools honored by the Washington State School Recognition Program on May 5.
Sunrise Elementary, Westwood Elementary, and Thunder Mountain Middle School – all under the Enumclaw School District – were on the list.
Westwood was honored for multiracial student growth percentiles in ELA and math being in the top 10% of schools across the state.
Sunrise was recognized for its low-income student population’s ELA and math proficiency rates being in the top 10%, as well as its ELA student growth percentile.
Finally, Thunder Mountain was recognized for the growth of its low-income student population’s ELA and math proficiency rates, Hispanic/Latino student ELA and math proficiency rates, and the ELA and math proficiency rates of its students with disabilities being in the top 10% as well.
A student growth percentile measures a student’s growth compared to other students with similar prior test scores, according to the Washington Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction.
Across the White River, Glacier Middle School was recognized for the growth of its Black student population’s ELA and math proficiency rates, as well as the group’s ELA student growth percentile.
Finally, Mountain Meadow Elementary was honored for its student’s performing in the top 20% of schools in ELA and math proficiencies between the 2022 and 2025 school years.
