A man has been arrested after the alleged assault of a child in Buckley.
According to the Enumclaw Police Department, a child was deliberately pushed by an unidentified man on Wednesday, July 1, at Buckley’s new pump bike track, causing serious injuries.
The suspect then fled the scene.
The Buckley Police Department were able to find a blurry image of the suspect’s vehicle. A make and model could not be determined, but the image captured the vehicle’s color and a distinctive bike rack.
The BPD asked Enumclaw if its newly-activated Flock Safety automatic license plate reader cameras took a photo of the vehicle; the system was only live for six hours at this point.
The ALPRs took a photo matching the description of the suspect vehicle and, using the license plate information, identified the registered owner.
The suspect was taken into custody and booked into the Pierce County Jail on suspicion of assault of a child in the second degree.
“This investigation demonstrates how Flock camera technology can assist law enforcement by providing timely investigative leads,” EPD Chief Tim Floyd said in a statement. “Working together, the Enumclaw and Buckley Police Departments were able to quickly identify and locate a suspect, bringing the investigation to a swift resolution. Had it not been for the Flock system in Enumclaw, this case may have gone unsolved.”
This is an ongoing story and will be updated when more information is made public.
