No charges have been filed in a recent child assault report at the new Buckley pump bike track, and the case is now pending investigation.

A 46-year old man allegedly pushed a child on the pump track on Wednesday, July 1, causing serious injuries.

The suspect then fled the scene via car.

After law enforcement were able to locate a suspect vehicle using Flock Safety automatic license plate readers, a man was arrested the same day.

The man posted bail on July 5, and a court return date was set for July 8; this is when charges are typically filed, according to Pierce County Prosecuting Attorney Communications Manager Adam Faber, though not always.

However, on July 7, the case was marked “NCF” – no charges filed – pending further investigation.

Additionally, the bail return hearing was canceled.

“Buckley P.D. will be doing some follow-up investigation and presumably submitting more evidence,” Faber said in an email. “Then a charging decision can be made.”

BPD Chief Kurt Alfano did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

This is an ongoing story and will be updated when more information is made public. These are only allegations, and suspects are presumed innocent until they are proven guilty in a court of law.
