You have to hand it to the Sumner High girls fastpitch squad, if nothing else in the three contests it played, it was consistent.
The Sparts lost all three encounters, each of which went the minimum length of five innings, by virtue of the 10-run mercy rule.
“We are working hard to improve, but we are having a little trouble with giving up runs and a lot of trouble scoring runs,” veteran Spartan coach Kim Fergus said.
Sumner slipped to 2-6 in South Puget Sound League 3A action, as it lost to White River 10-0 April 5, Bonney Lake 12-0 April 6 and Franklin Pierce 11-1 Thursday.
In the trio of one-sided affairs, Sumner managed a half dozen hits – a pair of hits in each of the three five-frame rendezvous – all of which came to pass on Sumner High’s home diamond.
