Traffic remained stopped on state Route 410 more than an hour after a violent confrontation between police and an unknown suspect.
The confrontation resulted in a brief exchange of fire between the suspect and law enforcement, according to a public employee, who asked to remain anonymous because they were not officially cleared to speak to the press. The cause of the shootout is unknown at this time.
Police were apparently unharmed, but the suspect was subdued by police fire. His medical status is not clear at this time.
Multiple agencies, including Bonney Lake Police and Pierce County Sheriffs remained on the scene.
Traffic on 410 was stopped in both directions, from the Sumner-Tapps Highway exit to just beyond downtown Bonney Lake, as law enforcement secured the scene.
More details as they arrive or change.
