There were no public comments during a July 28 hearing on the city of Bonney Lake’s six-year Transportation Improvement Plan.
The hearing came during a regularly-scheduled meeting of the council.
According to state law, annual public hearings to address updates to the TIP are required to keep the city eligible for most grant funding. Stated traffic improvement plans are non-binding.
The current plan, which addresses city desires through 2015, includes $26 million for major improvements for arterial roadways, $5.5 million for road reconstruction, $5 million for intersection improvements, $3.1 million for trail projects and $60,000 for transportation studies. The TIP overall cost is $39.9 million.
Under terms of the TIP, major improvements are slated for 192nd Avenue connections from 103rd Street to state Route 410, additional turn lanes on SR 410, a new road connecting Bonney Lake Boulevard to Myers Road, widening of 410 from 96th Street to the southern city limits and improvements on Main Street and 90th Street.
Trail projects include a pedestrian trail for Fennel Creek and a pesdestrain corridor for SR 410. The $2.1 million Fennel Creek project set for 2010 is funded by the 2007 Pedestrian Safety and Safe Routes to School grants.
The SR 410 corridor, slate for 2011, will have sidewalks funded by the 2009 Washington State Pedestrian-Bicycle Safety grant.
Reconstruction projects include chip sealing, asphalt overlays and sidewalk improvements for the next six years. A resolution to adopt the six-year plan will be on Tuesday’s council agenda.
In other action July 28, the council:
• approved an ordinance to write off false alarm fees during 2007. The measure authorizes the city’s chief financial officer to waive all fees for false alarms occurring in 2007.
• accepted the SR 410 Sanitary Sewer Interceptor Project by Pape and Sons which was completed for $62,000 less than the budgeted $497,000.
• awarded the Church Lake Drive East Water Main Replacement and Roadway Improvement Project to Less Russell Construction. The bid was approximately $847,000.
• appointed Brandon Frederick to the Planning Commission.
