SHS SOCCER: Spartans will open playoffs at Silverdale

The Sumner Spartans cruised to a third-place finish in the South Puget Sound League soccer standings and now prepare for postseason play.

The Spartans last week rang up a 3-0, April 26 victory over the host Steilacoom Sentinels before losing 1-0 at home Friday to Franklin Pierce. At Steilacoom, two Spartan goals were delivered by Sam hoyt and the other came off the foot of Kelly Ayers. Bryce Morrison recorded the shutout in goal.

With a No. 3 seed, the Spartans earn a first-round bye will begin postseason play with an 11 a.m. game May 14 at Silverdale. The opponent will be the No. 2 club from the Olympic League, still to be decided.
