Sumner senior Jamie Lange was named one of Washington Interscholastic Activities Association’s athletes of the week.

Lange was chosen along with 10 other athletes from across the state.

The WIAA’s website said, Lange had a double-double in two straight games, helping the Spartans go 2-0.

Last week against the Panthers, she scored a team high 30 points and had 16 rebounds.

And during Sumner’s second game last week, the 57-46 win over Auburn Riverside, Lange again scored the team high with 22 points.

She also had 17 rebounds in that game. And recorded nine blocks total for both games, according to the WIAA’s website.

Sumner coach Jordan Moog said Lange is a great leader.

“She plays the role of captain (alongside our other senior Anna Hurd) and leads on and off the court,” Moog said.

Moog added that Lange helps to focus the other girls, making every player on the floor better.

“It is awesome to start seeing our girls get recognized, it gives this team confidence to believe that we really can go to the next level and compete at state,” Moog said.
