BLHS SOCCER: Panthers open playoffs at home

With their second consecutive South Puget Sound League 3A soccer championship tucked away, the Bonney Lake Panthers can now turn their attention to postseason play.

As the division’s No. 1 seed, the Panthers will open the subdistrict tournament at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, playing at Sunset Chev Stadium in Sumner. Bonney Lake will take on the No. 1 seet from the Seamount League, currently Kennedy Catholic.

Tuesday’s winner will advance to the district tournament as the No. 1 seed, with the loser going as No. 2. The district opener will be played May 14 at a site still to be determined.

Bonney Lake capped the regular season Friday with a 4-0 blanking of Peninsula High that allowed the Panthers to finish the SPSL 3A campaign with a mark of 8-1-1. The team’s overall record improved to 13-1-2.

Scoring goals in the league finale were Austin Curtis, Jordan Billy, J.D. Walter and James Glavin, while Alex Hall posted the shutout in goal.
