SHS GOLF: Spartans split matches with Bonney Lake

Sumner High split against rival Bonney Lake Thursday at Linden Golf Course in Puyallup.

The Spartans won the girls match 58-52, while the boys fell 60-55.

Danielle Durham led the Sumner girls with a 53 and Sydney Drever finished two strokes behind at 55.

In boys play, Brandon Barlow paced the Spartans with a 41 and Austin Spanier shot a 42.

The Spartans fell to Enumclaw Oct. 6 in both boys and girls play.

Tyler Salsbury shot a 2-under 35 to pace the Hornets’ 89-47 SPSL 3A win at the Enumclaw Golf Course.

Barlow was Sumner’s top finisher with a 42 for 11 points. One stroke behind was Mike Murphy.

On the girls’ side, Enumclaw won 96-44 with Hornet Kelly Sweeney leading all golfers with a 4-over 39. The Spartans’ Rebecca Turcotte finished at 49.

In nonleague action Oct. 5, the Sumner boys fell to 4A Federal Way 57-48 at Linden Golf Course in Puyallup.

The Spartans will compete in Thursday’s SPSL 3A medalist tournament and in the district tournament Tuesday.
