BLHS SOCCER: Two-win week against Lakes and Enumclaw

Published 5:59 pm Wednesday, October 12, 2011

A two-win week allowed the Bonney Lake Panthers to remain just a game off the pace in the South Puget Sound League 3A soccer standings.

Victories over Lakes High and Enumclaw improved the Panthers’ record to 3-1 in league play and 9-1 overall. Through games of last week, Bonney Lake was sitting second in the SPSL 3A, just a notch behind the 4-0 Auburn Mountainview Lions.

Playing at home Thursday night, the Panthers scored early and then relied on solid defense to register a 1-0 victory over Enumclaw High. Bonney Lake’s Lindsey Hanbidge scored in the sixth minute and Madi Lowry earned the shutout in goal.

Picking up a win was far easier Oct. 4 when seven players scored goals during the Panthers’ 10-0 rout of the visiting Lancers. Andrea Bowman and Megan Riggs scored two goals each to lead the onslaught, while Madi Adams, Kassandra Blakely, Ashley Cade, Emily Richmond, Karissa Burnett and Olivia Ottinger added one each.

Bonney Lake played earlier this week, hosting the Peninsula Seahawks Tuesday, and will travel Thursday to face the Decatur Gators. Both foes enter this week’s games with losing records.
