Bonney Lake and Sumner Track: Spartans sprint to crown | Slideshow

Bonney Lake’s track and field squad hosted rival Sumner and Franklin Pierce Thursday.
While the boys were busy upstaging one another, Sumner’s girls rose to the occasion, emerging to defeat Bonney Lake 91-58 and cage Franklin Pierce 81-68. These victories allowed Sumner to sew up the South Puget Sound League 3A title with an 8-0 regular season mark.
Thanks to distance runners Veronica Stinnett, Sierra Espinal and Marie Wilson, the Bonney Lake girls prevailed over Franklin Pierce 75-74.
Stinnett won both the 800- and 1,600-meter races with times of 2 minutes, 20.60 seconds and 5:09, respectively.
The distance domination didn’t end there, as Wilson won the 3,200-meter run at a brisk clip of 12:06.59.
Adara Winder won the shot put with a toss of 39 feet, 7 inches. She also took home gold in the discus with a throw of 118-1.
Sumner’s Ashlee Sincraugh took first in the 400-meter sprint with a time of 58.79. Sincraugh also anchored the 1,600-meter relay, which singed the track with a time of 4:04.3 seconds, eclipsing a long-standing SHS record. This quartet was also comprised of Tessa Hansen, Lauren Bulzomi and Leah DeDominces.
Also claiming firsts for Sumner’s girls were Samantha Andrada, pole vault, 9-0, and Jessica Vandergiessen, with a 5-0 effort in the high jump and won the triple jump with an accumulated total of 33-5.50 inches.
Sumner’s Kimber Kober took first in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.42.
In the boy’s competition, Spartan Alex Griffith won the shot put with a toss of 51-3 and took the discus with an effort of 157.
Sumner’s Seth Rodriguez won the javelin with a throw of 177-10 inches and Kevin Johnson took first in the pole vault with a 13-0 effort. The versatile Johnson also galloped to gold in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.73.
Sumner’s Corey Brandt won the 3,200 meters.
Panther Cameron Williams sizzled to top times of 18.74 in the 110-meter hurdles and 45.27 in the 300-meter hurdles.
