East Pierce firefighters responded today to a brush fire in northeast Lake Tapps.
A large brush fire about 50 feet from a residence on the 2000 block of 217th Avenue Court East (near White River gorge) was called in some time around 1 p.m. today. The response was upgraded by rescue workers to “brush response,” which brought in more personnel, specialized vehicles and greater resources.
Firefighters used an engine and one brush fire specialty vehicle to bring the flow of water onto the steep terrain where the fire was located. As shown in live updates on the East Pierce Facebook page, crews had to access the fire from the backyards of neighborhood residences.
