To all the people that were affected by Phil Engebretsen resigning from basketball I can only say one thing. He truly was and always will be a great brother, father, husband and mentor to others.

I am his youngest brother Peter Engebretsen. I am currently deployed to the desert. I have been in the Air Force for over 11 years and in those years I have seen many young men prosper by his leadership on and off the court. To my brother I just want to say thank you for supporting me in my life and I wish I could have been around more to support you. You were always a great inspiration to me growing up. It might not have shown all the time that I listened but everything you have told me and shown me I have put into action.

Seeing you on the sidelines coaching was a true delight. I always thought it would be fun to coach along side of you, but Ryan was the lucky one to do so.

Your resignation from the sport will be a loss for everyone involved in the Enumclaw community. When the people in Enumclaw or wherever you decide to be see you on the sidelines watching your kids play they will see a man fulfilling his dream. I can only ask and pray that when my career in the Air Force is through my attributes that I have shine as bright as yours.

Not many people can say that they have a great family but having you, Rick and Ryan as my brothers I can truly say that I have been blessed by God. Thank you for everything and I congratulate you in your 17 years as a head coach at Colony and Enumclaw and I wish the best for you and your wife Necia. May your future be blessed and I hope and pray that you will be successful in your future endeavors.
