The alphabet media (ABC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, NPR) rant ad nauseum about the horrors of Trump’s deportation policy. The hue and cry that the present system leaves “immigrants without lawyers or a chance to appeal.” (ACLU, Migration Policy Institute, NPR, etc.) Truth seems lost in poor memories, lame research, or intents to destroy the POTUS’ policy anyway possible.
Obama, aptly nicknamed “Deporter-in-Chief,” deported more illegal immigrants than any other president in U.S. history. His “3.2 million deportations, with 75–83% lacking due process, set a precedent for efficient but controversial immigration enforcement.” (ABC news)
Obama’s deporting goals resonate with Trump’s. Priority focused on “threats to national security, border security, and public safety.” That includes gang members, convicted felons or charged with “aggravated felony” and anyone apprehended at the border trying to enter the country illegally. That includes “aliens convicted of three or more misdemeanor offenses, other than minor traffic” violations, as well as those convicted of domestic violence, sexual abuse, burglary, DUIs or drug trafficking.” Sound familiar?
Anyone recall much overt hand wringing, law suits, picketing, riots over Obama’s actions?
Today’s main stream media’s strident tenor in reporting Trump’s program demonstrates a startling lack of past historical knowledge, poor research, or convenient amnesia. Or “get the President anyway possible, facts be damned.”
