Letter to the Editor: Bowie will work for the people, not city staff

Black Diamond resident Mike Fettig says Geoff Bowie is the best choice for mayor.

Friday night, I attended the debate for mayoral candidates In Black Diamond.

Geoff Bowie’s experience and specific knowledge of today’s issues were clearly far above the other candidates.

For example, there’s a problem of increased vehicle traffic through residential neighborhoods as the city grows. Geoff showed us a map and documentation of how, right now, the city is working with developer Oak Pointe to remove Oak Pointe’s requirement to build a bypass road on south Lawson Hill. It’s cheaper for the developer to put future traffic on Lawson Street.

Geoff also said he will make his focus on working with the people. In contrast, candidate Boxx-Deady spoke at length about how her focus will be talk to and listen to city staff. As for candidate Adler, a few weeks ago at council meeting, he commented that he had met with staff to learn about the city, and he is in complete support of everything the head of the Development Department is doing.

Our city has a problem – staff allow developers to delay and change important infrastructure commitments. As developers try to quadruple tiny Black Diamond, we need a mayor who will really be informed and work for the citizens.

That mayor is Geoff Bowie. Please vote for him by August 5.
