The world of agriculture is quote exciting — which is why the Enumclaw Expo Center is hosting the inaugural AGRIventure event on May 19 and 20.
The event, which is designed for fourth and fifth graders, their families, and community members in general, aims to encourage a new generation of agriculturalists.
“AGRIVenture is all about giving students a real connection to agriculture,” Expo Center Rene Popke said in a press release. “When kids can see the animals, touch the equipment, and talk directly with farmers, it creates a learning experience that will hopefully stay with them.”
There will be more than a dozen interactive stations for students to explore, including livestock care, crop production, farm to table, agricultural technology, and food systems.
The event is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; educators are encouraged to contact the Expo Center to plan field trips.
Adults can also get in on the fun on May 19 with adult sessions from 5 to 6 p.m., and a dinner with farmers and ranchers from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
“The dinner provides an opportunity for the community to simply eat dinner with a farmer, hear their stories, challenges, how farming has evolved over time while recognizing the importance of agriculture in the local economy,” Popke said.
Tickets for the dinner are $54 individually, for $405 for a full table of eight.
Proceeds go to support agriculture programs at the King County Fair.
