Enumclaw Highs drill team received “reserve champion” honors at state.

A handful of Enumclaw High equestrians capped their season with an award-winning performance during the June 19-21 Pacific Northwest Individual Championships.

PNWIC is an annual, regional event that rotates between sites in Washington and Oregon. This year’s gathering took place at the Grant County Fairgrounds in Moses Lake.

To qualify for PNWIC, equestrians from each state must finish among the top five in their event (there are 27 events in all) during state championship meets.

At PNWIC Enumclaw High was represented in seven events and placed among the leaders in five of those while going head-to-head with the best from the Pacific Northwest.

The list of EHS honors was headed by Gabriyela Hernandez, who turned in a record-breaking performance by setting new PNWIC records during the stay in Moses Lake.

She established new marks in Individual Flags with a time of 7.887 seconds (the old mark was 8.104) and Keyhole with a time of 6.725 seconds (old mark was 6.84). She also took top honors in Figure 8.

Aside from championships in those three events, she teamed with Chloe Eley to earn the championship buckle in the Bi-Rangle competition.

Taking “reserve champion” honors was the Enumclaw High drill team. Members were Kami Bullock, Chloe Eley, Laura Floyd, Ella Griffith, Sienna Haugen, Gabriyela Hernandez, Olivia Hood, Kalyna Melnyk, Brooklyn Metzger, Rylee Mulligan, Teagan Schaffarzick, and Ginnie Sullivan.
