Tuesday night, the Bonney Lake city council approved the Utility Latecomers Agreement for Eastown. The body voted 5-2 in favor of the agreement that would allow city sewers to extend into the development region.
The Sumner Spartans are statebound after placing fifth at the 2A West Central District III boys swim and dive meet held Friday and Saturday. The Spartans earned an overall score of 177 at the meet.

The Sumner Spartan boys wrestling team took third place at the South Puget Sound League 2A sub-regional tournament this weekend. The team racked up 242.5 team points, two weight class champions, and 14 placers.
Today, the citizens of Bonney Lake are preparing to vote for or against a Metro Parks District in spring; though Orton Junction has been frozen, the citizens of Sumner have kept a YMCA in their minds; and both cities’ children can sign up for a plethora of club sports, such as Valley Wolfpack or Rainier Rugby — if they’re inclined when the season comes. Much of this has been made possible, according to Sumner School District athletic director Tim Thomsen, by the culture of athleticism and friendly competition fostered by Becky Giles.
