The regular season concluded in rainy fashion last week for South Puget Sound League 2A baseball players, but the campaign was a successful one for both local Hornet squads. Enumclaw High captured the league championship and White River finished in a second-place tie. Both teams were scheduled to open District 2/3 play Tuesday afternoon, EHS as the No. 2 seed into districts (vs. No. 7 Olympic) and White River as No. 4 (vs. No. 5 Steilacoom). Opening-round victories would bring semifinal games on Saturday; a Tuesday loss would mean playing again today (Wednesday) in a loser-out round. But a tough match against Fife may end their victory streak.
