City should focus on kids, not on making money

I am writing th is on behalf of the Enumclaw School District. I was the recreation director at the Enumclaw-King County park from Sept. 1, 1965, to Jan. 1,  1992, 26 years.

During the 26 years, King County Parks never charged the Enumclaw School District for the use of the football field and they started playing there in 1962. In my 26 years I was never charged for the use of school facilities for my programs or never was charged for a school ball field if I needed it for games. If the city is going to charge them, the school district should charge the same fee for use of facilities. If the city of Enumclaw follows what the athletic director for the Sumner School District said about fees, they will make money from other groups.

The city has to remember the swimming pool, golf course, fairgrounds and the recreation park was given to them at no cost. So, in closing, the city of Enumclaw and Park Board need to be in support of the kids in Enumclaw and not worry about the money they want to charge the Enumclaw School District.
