Deadline for Buckley-area Hometown Grants is Nov. 5

This is your time to apply for funds to help better your city.

Time is running out to apply for a White River Hometown Grant.

The White River Hometowns Grant Fund, which started in 2018, has been steadily granting money to various individuals and organizations in Buckley, Carbonado, and Wilkeson that want to make a positive impact on their community.

This year, more than $102,000 is available, the most since the grant program began.

“There were some investment additions this year that gave us the big jump to over $100K,” Mary Beth Holmes, leader of the Prairie Ridge Community Coalition and the White River Families First Coalition. “We are really looking forward to seeing what passions might be supported this year.”

If you’d like to apply for a grant, the application period ends on Nov. 5; to apply, head to sites.google.com/view/white-river-hometowns-fund/home.

Previous projects and organizations that have been granted money include Beautify Buckley for various clean-up projects around the city, the Buckley Downtown Association and the events it puts on in the downtown corridor, Plateau Outreach Ministries and its food and financial support programs, and the Town of Wilkeson for continued improvements and beautification projects.

Holmes clarified a point that confused some applicants when applying during an earlier announcement.

While any organization can apply for the grand, “Funding is dispersed through a 501c3 nonprofit, public charities, 509(a)(1) and 509(a)(2), Schools, Churches, Hospitals, Museums, Zoos, Symphonies, or Governmental units, if for public purposes,” she said. “Funding is possible for other entities, though there is more work required of the organization for funding. It is acceptable to request funding and run it through a partner organization that is one of the above.”

Once an application is submitted, a review committee will review applications until Nov. 26. The grant program is also looking for people to be on the review committee; for more information on how to apply, head to sites.google.com/view/white-river-hometowns-fund/home.

Funding recipients will be announced on Dec. 4 via email, and funds will be distributed by the end of December.
