The city is about to cap a month of fun with this year's edition of Bonney Lake Days, which for the first time will feature a parade along West Tapps Highway.
The parade will begin 9 a.m. Saturday at West Tapps Elementary and end at the Allan Yorke Park boat launch.
Participating in the parade will be East Pierce Fire and Rescue, the Bonney Lake Police Department and members of the city's Public Works Department. Les Schwab employees will toss candy out of a truck.
David Wells, events coordinator for the city, said Kuss Entertainment will be driving the first vehicle in the parade and “they will be pulling a trailer and collecting food and clothing for the Bonney Lake food bank and Lions4Kids clothing bank.”
Also featured in the parade will be Pierce County Councilman Shawn Bunney, Rep. Dan Roach, R-Bonney Lake, Mayor Neil Johnson and City Council members.
Bonney Lake Days begins Friday at 7 p.m. at Allan Yorke Park and wraps up Sunday at 4 p.m.
Wells said the booths for Bonney Lake days are sold out and the main stage entertainment was booked early.
The event will also feature both a kids' zone and a toddlers' zone.
Home Depot and Ben Franklin will be providing material for the kids zone and the toddler zone will be sponsored by Play-Dayz.
The city kicked off the month with a National Night Out event, designed to bring the police department and citizens in closer contact.
The annual softball tournament was one of the featured events. The team from East Pierce Fire and Rescue won the tournament with the police department coming in second, the mayor's team third and public works fourth.
