Bonney Lake High School’s ProStart program students went head-to-head Friday afternoon, competing for the privilege to be named Bonney Lake’s top chef.

The internal competition challenged students of the culinary arts program to produce meals that would pass muster in a restaurant dining experience.

“We’re judging these meals on appearance, temperature, taste and garnish,” said judge Karen Brown, rattling off a comprehensive list that proved the entries weren’t the only mouthful. “Proper use of tools, the time to create the meal, the recipe, teamwork of course, safety, proper clothing for the kitchen, and sanitation.”

Also guest judging was Tim Franson, a broker for Acosta Foods.

The students produced some truly mouthwatering meals, some of which you can see for yourself in the slideshow above.
