A Bonney Lake Teenager died Friday and five more people were injured following a two-car accident at the intersection of 120th Street and 198th Avenue East.

According to the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s office, Jaryd Bartlette, 17, of Bonney Lake was killed in the accident.

Multiple East Pierce Fire and Rescue units responded to the accident, which occurred at about 2:30 p.m.

According to the Pierce County Sheriff’s deputies, a minivan broadsided a sedan at the intersection. Three occupants of the minivan and one from the sedan were transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The passenger in the sedan, Bartlette, was taken to the Trauma Center at St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Tacoma, where he died. Firefighters on scene said he was wearing a seatbelt.

The Sheriff’s Office is investigating the cause of the crash.
