When Blaine Larsen learned country superstar George Strait was going to record one of his songs on his upcoming album “Twang,” the White River High graduate was floored.

That song, “I Gotta Get To You,” became a Billboard hit for Strait. The trade magazine noted Strait is the first act to hit the top 10 on any Billboard chart for 30 straight years. “I Gotta Get to You” recently reached No. 9.

Larsen co-wrote the song with Jim Lauderdale and Jimmy Ritchey. It is the third track.

“That’s the crown jewel of song writing,” Larsen said during an interview with The Courier-Herald in August. “Everyone’s trying to get on his record. It’s a big honor. It’s hard to put it into words.”
