The single lane on westbound state Route 410 will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 24 to Sept. 26. Then there will be nighttime closures of the lane from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. from Sept. 26 to Oct. 12.

NO COOPERATION: An officer responded to the Enumclaw fire station at 9 p.m. Sept. 18 to assist firefighters. A woman initially needed medical assistance, then wanted to speak to county and city authorities about a report she had filed in Enumclaw. Once an officer arrived, she refused to provide any information and also refused medical treatment.

On Sept. 17, 55-year-old Ricky Knowles was sentenced to six months in jail for beating a neighbor’s dog with a hatchet after luring the animal with dog treats and trying to strangle it with wire. The defendant pleaded guilty to Animal Cruelty in the First Degree in July. Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Dione Hauger argued for the maximum sentence of 12 months, citing the brutality of the crime as justification.
