The state Department of Health is warning people that several types of frozen food products – Farm Rich, Market Day, and Schwan’s brands – have been recalled due to possible contamination with E. coli. The products were distributed widely throughout Washington.

A team of Pierce County employees who redesigned part of the county’s website to make it much easier for citizens to access public records were honored Wednesday, April 3, by the Washington Coalition for Open Government.
The organization has slated the third Saturday of every September since 2004 for its annual volunteer campaign to improve the city and its surrounding areas. Last year, more than 500 volunteers spent the morning cleaning, planting and, well, generally beautifying the Downtown core, community garden, public safety building, library, Justice Center, Brookside Trails and other sites.

On March 28, Gov. Jay Inslee released his budget proposal for the 2013-15 biennium. I thought the Governor’s proposal was a good step forward in putting the state on the path to fully funding basic education by 2018. The Senate’s budget proposal, on the other hand, is a step back.
