The man said he lost his company debit card in June and reported it stolen. They advised him someone was using the card in California and made 22 transactions for a total of $219.88.
DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE
• On Nov. 10 police responded to a one-car accident on 185th Avenue East. Dispatch advised a car crashed into a tree in the yard and the male driver, age 28, was standing outside the vehicle. The man fled on foot and was apprehended. Once he was in handcuffs, he told police he was driving and had consumed two glasses of wine. He showed signs of intoxication at the scene and was placed under arrest for driving under the influence.
SHOPLIFTING
• On Nov. 7 a mini-mart employee watched a subject leave the store with a 12-pack of beer without paying. Officers in Bonney Lake heard dispatch report a “beer run” in the area and officers identified the suspect vehicle. When officers made contact, the driver, an 18-year-old man, admitted he was underage and said he drove to the gas station earlier and his friend took the beer. The passenger in the vehicle did not admit to the shoplifting incident, but showed signs of intoxication. The 20-year-old passenger was booked into the Buckley Jail for minor in consumption and shoplifting.
MEDICAL ISSUE
• On Nov. 8 police were advised on a possible suicide attempt at a 218th Avenue East address. When police arrived a 47-year-old woman was being escorted by East Pierce Fire and Rescue to an aid car. Sumner
ACCIDENT
• On Nov. 5 an officer responded to a single-vehicle accident in which the vehicle hit a power pole in the 1400 block of Main Street. The driver of the vehicle reported he had not been sleeping well lately, was very tired and had fallen asleep while driving his vehicle which caused him to hit the pole. The officer noticed that the subject’s pupils were constricted even though it was dark outside and suspected some type of drug use. The subject was evaluated by a drug recognition expert and was believed to be under the influence of some type of prescription pain medication. The suspect then admitted that he had taken several doses of the prescription pain medication throughout the day. The subject was later booked into Puyallup jail for driving under the influence.
GUN FOUND
• On Nov. 1 an employee called to report he found a gun on the floor of his business in the 2700 block of East Valley Highway and wanted the police to take charge of it. While officers were en route, communications advised the officers that a male subject called and advised that he had been assaulted at the referenced business and the gun was stolen from him. It was then determined that the calls were likely related. Officers went to the business and retrieved the gun. The employee explained that an intoxicated subject fell off of a chair and landed face first on the floor. The employee helped the subject up from the floor and noticed the gun on the floor, which had fallen out of the subject’s clothing. The employee helped the subject to the parking lot where he waited for a cab. The subject continued to maintain that he was assaulted and the gun was stolen from him.
