Until fall, expect both eastbound lanes to be closed a mile west of the summit (from MP 63.5 @ Big Windy to 62.5 @ Old Faithful) with traffic shifted to the westbound lanes and reduced to one lane in each direction. The speed limit is also reduced to 50 mph. Provision has been made for bicycles through the work zone.

US 2 (MP 61-64) Stevens Pass West Slope Stabilization

In this $5.5 million project , MidWest Rockfall Inc. crews are clearing, scaling, rock bolting and hanging steel netting to reduce rock fall from four unstable slopes west of Stevens Pass. One was stabilized last summer and three are scheduled this summer. Season 1 work ran from May 9, 2012 to Nov. 1. Season 2 construction began May 13 and should be complete this fall.
