Bonney Lake Fastpicth: With four wins, Panthers stay at the top of SPSL

The top-ranked Bonney Lake High fastpitch team played four games in five days, sporting a perfect 4-0 mark in South Puget Sound League 3A play.

Bonney Lake kept on top of the league standings with a 1-0 win over Enumclaw Friday at home.

The Panthers’ winning run came in the third inning when Kim Courneya drilled a single past third base to score Sam Ebner. Ebner walked, then Eva Beal’s sacrifice bunt moved the runner to second base.

Enumclaw was able to put runners on base, but could not get them home. With one out in the second inning, Panther catcher Brittney Myers threw out a Hornet runner stealing second. They would only get one runner on base the remainder of the game.

Caitlin Colvin got the win with a one-hitter. She fanned 10 batters with no walks.

On Thursday, Colvin tossed a two-hitter and struck out 16 batters in the Panthers’ 4-1 win over Franklin Pierce at home.

While Colvin was dominating from the mound, Courneya smacked two hits and scored twice, while Ashley Burns had a 2-RBI single. The Panthers’ collected eight hits.

April 22, Bonney Lake scored the only run of the game in the first inning for a 1-0 league win over Lakes at home.

Courneya and Chloe Beal each had a hit. Courneya scored the lone run.

Taylor McCarthy picked up the win, giving up two hits with seven strikeouts and two walks.

Colvin, Eva Beal and Karly Edwards each had two hits in the Panthers’ 6-0 shutout of Auburn Mountainview April 21 in SPSL 3A play in Auburn.

Bonney Lake took a 1-0 lead early, then added another run in the top of the sixth inning. They scored four insurance runs in the seventh. The Panthers finished with 13 hits.

Colvin again was a dominating force on the mound. The senior fanned 14 batter, walked three and gave up a pair of hits. She also had a triple at the plate.

The Panthers host White River at 4 p.m. Friday.
