Squads from both Enumclaw High and White River found themselves competing recently at the state cheer championships.
The January 24-25 event, which brought together schools of all sizes from throughout the state, was staged at Battle Ground High in Clark County.
The Enumclaw crew made quite a splash, taking a state title in 3A/4A Tumbling Medium and placing second in 2A/3A Game Day Medium.
Representing EHS at the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association event were: Mickey Hogan, Sammy Santana, Aly Posey, Aislinn Binder, Emma Clayton, Mylee Bonthuis, Juliet Gwerder, Leila Scharf, Alyssa Neal, Kate McGill, Sophia Medina, Kena Baird, Sydnee Moore and Sam Pitman. In the Game Day competition, that crew was joined by Maddie Hogan, Reagan Roberts, Khaley Audette and Lyla Bunker (with alternate Presley Barnes).
The EHS squad was headed by interim coaches Sarah Earley and Emily West.
The Enumclaw program is no stranger to collecting honors at recent state cheer championships. The Hornets took the 2A/4A Medium title in 2022; the 2A/3A/4A Game Day Large championship, also in 2022; and the 2A/4A Large title in 2020.
White River: The Buckley squad had qualified for the state cheer championships in 2A/3A Game Day Large, eventually placing fourth.
The group is headed by coach Sheridan Aubert.
Competing in Battle Ground were Izzy Edwards, Sophia Ebbert, Maelyn Juhl, Kaylee Schneider, Autumn Johnson, Kayser Floyd, Ivan Floyd, Jayden Saborio, Maci Roach, Lylah Britt, Bristol Barrick, Brooke Lawrence, Kayela Budvarson, Allia Odanovich, Olivia Odanovich, Emily Shank, Catie Courtney, Kylee Trudgeon, Ava Byrnes, Paislee Gunter, Skylan Balsley and Kamdyn Sweetser.
